HCC’s Program in Nursing Seeks Voluntary Initial Accreditation Through NLNAC
Hibbing Community College’s Program in Nursing is seeking voluntary initial accreditation through the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC).
The Nursing Program is engaged in an extensive self-study process that includes total program evaluation and an opportunity for continued program improvement. A site visit with a team of three program evaluators will be on campus on February 14-16 to meet with members of the Nursing Program, HCC administration, faculty, staff, students and community partners.
NLNAC provides the opportunity for program constituents to submit in writing comments concerning an educational program's qualifications for accreditation status. Written comments are also welcome and should be submitted directly to: Dr. Sharon Tanner, Chief Executive Officer, 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 500, Atlanta, Ga. 30326 or email to sjtanner@nlnac.org . All written comments should arrive at NLNAC by February 9, 2012.
There will be a Public Forum February 15, at 5:00 p.m. in the HCC Fine Dining Room. Current students, alumni, faculty, health care professionals and other interested parties are invited to attend this meeting and comment about the program.
Program Director, Barbara Bozicevich, says “The nursing program is at an exciting juncture in our journey toward achieving NLNAC accreditation. We welcome the opportunity to share with the public the premise for and process of pursuing accreditation and how it benefits the students the program serves.”
“Receiving NLNAC accreditation would be an important milestone for HCC’s associate degree nursing program,” added Mike Raich, HCC’s Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Services. “If achieved, this voluntary national recognition will confirm the quality of our program delivery and ensure that our nursing graduates meet the level of preparation demanded by health care employers and the public that nurses serve."
